Dear Scott,
Thank you for the lovely card that you sent to PTI. There aren’t too many of us that go into the office since COVID, so I just received and opened the card today. I wanted to let you know that Marge DeMello had informed us of your father’s passing right away, and that an email chain was set up to reach as many of the past and present employees of PTI as possible.
I have wonderful memories of working with your father. He was such a wonderful speaker, and an amazing leader. We would have impromptu company meetings where he would keep us up to date on big project wins, but even if the news wasn’t good, you left the room feeling energized and motivated. As brilliant as he was, he always took the time to speak with each of us, whether we were at the top of the org chart or at the bottom. One of my favorite memories of all time is when he invited the whole company to his house on Lake George for a company picnic. I think it was a special anniversary of the company’s founding. The day was amazing with an international buffet set up outside, and a huge tour boat pulling up to the dock for all to enjoy a ride on the lake.
I started working at PTI in 1984 and have been there ever since. Those who were at PTI back in the 80’s and 90’s meet at least once a year and chat about old times. In fact, about 15 of us were at lunch on Wednesday, September 24, the day he passed away. Dag Reppen was there. As you may know, he was one of the founders that started PTI with your father.
I’m in the office today and we still have some reminders of your father here. There is a conference room named after him and some memorabilia on the walls like the plaque shown below. I’m sure that many will attend the service on 10/18 in person. I’m not able to attend because we’ll be out of town. But I would love to listen in the Zoom call if possible. Please let me know the link and let me know if I can share it with others. I know that there are many who have moved to other states and are not able to travel.
With best regards,
Sue Kapusta
